Dear Parents and Athletes, 

Arrangements for Fours Head:

The fours head is run on a tidal stretch of the River Thames from Chiswick to Putney, the start time for this year's race is 13:15. Crews are set off about every 10 seconds so if you look at the crew race number, you can approximately work out what time the crews will be coming down the course. The best place to view this race is from Hammersmith Bridge.

The Headington crews are setting off as follows:

331 HED W IM1 4x- (approximate start time - 14:15)

370 HED W J18 4x- (approximate start time - 14:25)

404 HED W J18 4+ (approximate start time - 14:35)

446 HED W IM2 4+ (approximate start time - 14:45)

452 HED W IM2 4+ (approximate start time - 14:50)

The crew line ups were distributed over the weekend and full crew line ups can also be found on the event website.

Transport:

The bus will depart at 8am at the latest. Please meet outside the school gym at 7:50. Please note that there are boarders and girls who may be sleeping. YOU MUST NOT MAKE ANY NOISE outside the boarding house. Transport is available back from Putney however, where possible, please can parents arrange transport back from the event. No girls may depart the event until the trailers are fully loaded.

Itinerary: Fours Head of the River: Saturday the 12th November 2016

Please note that it is the girls responsibility that they follow the coaches instructions and the timings below. Please note that once you boat, you may have a wait on the water before you race so make sure you don’t over hydrate, ensure you have had a loo stop prior to racing and have cold weather kit available.

7:50am: Meet at School gym

8am: Bus departs from School gym.

9:30am: Arrive at Thames RC, Putney.

10am: Boats rigged and checked for race.

11am: Dressed and ready for pre-race chat at the trailer. You will then warm up and boat. There will be no time for anything else.

11:30: Crews boat

13:00: All crews must be in marshalling area (make sure you have warm kit as you will have to wait at the start).

13:15: Approximate start time: it could be earlier so ensure that you row straight up to the start.

Once you have completed your race, you need to report any breakages or issues immediately.

14:30 onwards: Off the water.

from 14:30: De-Rig boats and load trailer (all girls who race during the day must de-rig and help load the trailer). No girl may depart before the trailer is fully loaded and ready to depart.

Kit and Food

Please ensure that you have:

- Water bottles with electrolyte replacement fluid.

- Food.

- Wellington Boots

- A good breakfast before you depart (eg: Poridge, toast and a banana).
- Post Race: Make sure you have a meal for after your race, such as pasta and banana / fruit

- Kit: You will need a change of kit for after your race. Make sure you have enough warm kit. It will likely be very cold on Saturday, please come prepared!

Parking and Spectating:

Headington are boating from Thames Rowing Club on the Putney Embankment.

Viewing is possible along the full length of the course but the best place to spectate is from Hammersmith Bridge.
