Gloucester Spring Head has become a firm fixture in our calendar over the past few years, providing good quality head racing for the J14 as well as a great opportunity for our J13 rowers to race soon after their return to training on the river.
This year saw the girls competing amidst quite high winds which as some points during the day threatened to curtail the racing all together. The girls persevered in these adverse conditions however and produced a number of excellent performances.
Gloucester was the first chance for our J13s to race after their winter break from the river. An impressive five quads raced during the day. All the girls racing showed great determination in the face of high winds in their first race since October. Very well done to all girls who raced, it will be great to see how they can build on this foundation at their next competitive outing in the Summer!
The J14 squad has four coxed quad sculls racing over the two divisions of racing. The girls all fought hard in the challenging conditions to take 6th, 4th, 2nd and 1st places out of 11. Well done to Claudia, Maddie, Temi, Sabina and cox Neve who made up the winning crew. The J14s are next in action at the National Sculling Head at the end of March.
