National Junior Sculling Head 2017

The National Junior Sculling Head (Scullery) is one of the largest one day events of the year and sees huge numbers of junior rowers compete over a 3600m time trial on Dorney Lake.  Headington School was represented at the Scullery by over 60 rowers from the J14, J15, J16 and Senior squads.

J14s

The J14 rowers were competing in both the octuple scull and coxed quadruple scull events. The J14 coxed quads were racing in one of the most competitive events of the day with 57 crews racing. The three headington boats took 13th, 24th and 52nd place. The J14 octo is also highly competitive with over 30 crews taking part, the Headington crew of Anna, Abby, Maddie, Sabina, Darcy, Claudia, Immy and Temi raced very well overtaking some other crews and finished in an excellent 2nd place.

J15 and J16s

The J15s swapped sweep oars for sculls and raced in the J15 octuple scull event taking 1st place by 30 seconds. Well done to Kira, Armana, Anouk, Cordi, Sasha, Trudie, Cassia, Cici and cox Izzy for this great result.

Headington had three J16 coxless quads racing this year in a field of over 35 crews. The girls raced extremely well taking 3rd, 4th and 25th place.

Seniors

The HSOBC senior squad took to the lake in 5 coxless quads (three J18 and two J17). The J17 crew of Hannah, Anna, Louise and Franny took silver with the 2nd Headington crew taking 15 out of 24.

The quad of Danielle, Katie, Rosie and Isabel had a strong race taking gold in the J18 event by 19 seconds. The 2nd crew of Liz, India, Mattea and Lucy also hit their stride well to take bronze in this highly competitive event with the 3rd Headington crew taking 16th out of 30.
