On Saturday 5th November, 5 Headington crews travelled down to London to race the 5km stretch on the Tideway. All crews had a great race, the top senior quad came 2nd in their section with the 2nd senior quad only 10 places behind.

Pangbourne Small Boats Head is traditionally an excellent Autumn event for the Juniors. This year the Fours Head took place on the same day as Pangbourne so the Seniors were unable to compete or support this local event.

Little stream, overcast conditions and a following tail wind made for good conditions with some fast times being posted on the day.

This year 6 girls were invited to attend the World Potential camp at Holme Pierrepont in Nottingham, however only 3 girls (Charlie, Tess and Franny) could attend as there was a trip to Russia for the other 3 rowers.

Headington School Boat Club started the year’s training off a couple of days before the start of term. The club has seen a great start to the year, with an amazing number of novices joining and the total number of Headington rowers reaching an all-time high.

The early stages of the season is always an opportunity for Headington to put boats out that are not lead / top boats. The purpose of this is to ensure that the whole squad is developed rather than key individuals. Overall the boat club had some very good results considering the fact that they were competing against schools who were boating top crews.

The J13 and J14 rowers competed at the Eversham Junior Head Race this weekend where they recorded the following results:

Well done to the Women’s Junior 13 Quadruple sculls who recorded 1st and 3rd places in their races.
Congratulations to one of our J12s who was third in the Women’s Junior 13 Single Scull. A great achievement!

For several years now its been a tradition of the boat club to have a BBQ at the beginning of term to allow new parents and novices to meet the rest of the boat club and the coaches informally. We had amazing weather this year (for a change!) and there was a great turn out.

A fantastic part of Headington School life. My daughter loves being part of the rowing team and she is supported by such dedicated and enthusiastic coaches.
