Pangbourne Junior Sculls is a permanent fixture in our racing calendar and is the last event for the J14s in the Autumn Term. This year Headington entered crews from the J14, J15 and J16 squads racing across several boat classes.
The J14 squad raced in the coxed quad event, entering four boats into this competitive category. The crew of Claudia, Imogen, Madeleine and Hannah, coxed by Neve had a strong race taking a close 2nd place behind a crew from Rading RC. The other three crews also had solid races taking 6th, 8th and 9th place.
The J15 squad raced across both divisions, the J15 1x event was first up with Grace producing another excellent performance to take victory in a very competitive category. Trudie, Cordie, Amarna and Sasha also raced extremely well taking 6th, 7th, 8th and 13th out of 17. The second division saw the J15s put out in coxed quad sculls with Trudie, Cordie, Sasha and Grace, coxed by Katherine teamed up to take 2nd place.
As with the J15 squad, the J16s raced both divisions in a number of boat classes. Division 1 saw the coxless quad of Beth, Tarien, Sophie and Alex take 2nd place in the J16 4x-. Rachel and Charlotte also took 2nd place in the J18 double, this result was also matched by Emily and Charlotte in the J16 double category.
One of the stand out performances of the day was produced by Rachel who had a superb scull in the J17 1x, taking an impressive 2nd place out of 16. Beth also had a great row in her single, coming 3rd out of 16 in the J16 event.
