For the first time since 2019 all the years from j14 to j18, were able to go to the south of France for our Easter training camp.
For the senior squad the camp was off to a strong start with seat racing and trials on the first couple of days. They then progressed into a range of boat classes to perfect their technical skills and build endurance on the (30km?) stretch of river. This was all balanced with lots of revision in between sessions in preparation for their GCSE and A-level exams.
The J15 and J14 had an early start, arriving at school for 3am. The girls were eager to get out on the river, also taking on trials in their first couple days. They were able to go to the shops, walk around the site and get some work done in between sessions.
On the final day all the girls took part in speed runs, where they raced 1km up and 1km down a buoyed course. Some very strong performances were produced across the squad and a great atmosphere all around.
Overall, a very successful, productive and sunny camp!
The camp also says farewell to the leavers group: The traditional photo taken on the same bridge year after year. The 9 Headington leavers this year have made an increadible mark on this club and will be missed by the team that remains behind to follow on from the legacy they have added to.
With the leavers group, the team also selected new Captains and Vice Captains: Congratulations Isobel and Sophie who have been elected as the 2024 - 2025 Captain and Vice Captain. They replace Ali and Alice who have done a great job this year as the leaders of the club.
